Urban Resource Institute Appoints Charnell Neptune-Darby to Senior Director of Domestic Violence Residential Programs

  

New York, NY (July 10, 2024) – Urban Resource Institute (URI), the nation’s largest provider of shelter and comprehensive services for survivors of domestic violence and homelessness, is pleased to announce the appointment of Charnell Neptune-Darby, MA, LPMHC, as the new Senior Director of Domestic Violence Residential Programs. 

In her new role, Charnell will oversee the administration and strategic leadership of URI’s emergency and transitional domestic violence shelters, which encompass over 500 beds across New York City. She will supervise and mentor several shelter Program Directors and ensure that our shelter services are delivered with the highest quality, focusing on client-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally competent care.

Charnell joins URI with over a decade of specialized experience in domestic violence and trauma-focused environments, having held significant roles such as Clinician, Director of Social Services, and Program Director. Her commitment to creating supportive, inclusive, and effective care environments aligns seamlessly with URI’s values and goals. 

The Senior Director of Domestic Violence Residential Programs is critical in ensuring the comprehensive delivery of services, managing program budgets, and developing policies and practices that enhance the quality of life and safety for survivors and their children. Charnell will also play a pivotal role in URI’s Leadership Team, contributing to overarching strategy and advocacy to improve service outcomes and community impact. 

Charnell holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Monroe College of New Rochelle. She is also certified as a Clinical Child & Adolescent Trauma Professional.
