Celebrating Resilience and Heritage: URI’s Dedication to Latine Communities
By Nathaniel Fields, CEO, Urban Resource Institute
This National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 to October 15), Urban Resource Institute (URI) proudly celebrates the vibrant cultures and honors the resilience and achievements of Latine pioneers who inspire societal progress and personal success.
URI is committed to confronting the disproportionate challenges faced by Latine communities in New York City, including significant representation among the homeless and those affected by intimate partner violence. Our programs are specifically tailored to address these issues through culturally responsive, trauma-informed care that respects and honors the distinct cultural values of the communities we serve.
We leverage the strength and insights of our diverse staff, including our Latine team members, to enhance our services from emergency shelter provisions to comprehensive legal advocacy and economic empowerment. This month, we celebrate the invaluable contributions of Latine staff, clients, and partners who are integral to our mission. Their resilience and dedication are key in our collaborative efforts to forge a future free from violence and poverty.
URI is more than an organization; it is a vibrant community where every voice matters, every culture is celebrated, and the well-being of every individual is paramount. This Hispanic Heritage Month, we reaffirm our dedication to driving positive change and fostering unity, working collectively to build a just and compassionate world for everyone.
