Urban Resource Institute Announces Heidi Hamilton as General Council & Chief Compliance Officer and Jacqueline Gibbons as Vice President, People & Culture

 

NEW YORK (February 1, 2022) – Today, Urban Resource Institute (URI) announced two significant  new hires: Heidi Hamilton as General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer, and Jacqueline (Jackie) Gibbons as Vice President of People & Culture, who both joined the organization this week.  URI is the largest provider of domestic violence shelter services in the U.S. and a leading provider of shelter and services for homeless families, with a comprehensive portfolio of trauma-informed prevention, intervention, and education programs that reach 40,000 individuals annually.

“Heidi and Jackie are welcome new members of the URI leadership teams and will contribute to the growth of our capacity, scope, and impact, with decades of experience that will help drive our mission-based organization forward,” said Nathaniel Fields, Chief Executive Officer of URI. “During an important time for our organization, as well as challenging times for our city, sector and country, I look forward to the expertise, insights, and energy that both Heidi and Jackie will bring to the URI team.”

Reporting directly to Fields and serving as a member of URI’s Executive Team, Heidi Hamilton will be responsible for the organization’s legal affairs, including in-house corporate affairs, policy initiatives, and real estate projects, as well as the strategic implementation of agency-wide risk management systems to support URI’s legal, financial, programmatic, strategic, and operational integrity.

Most recently, Hamilton was the Chief Real Estate, Facilities & Legal Officer for Amber Charter Schools where she oversaw school-based operation systems and capital improvement projects. In addition to her professional roles, Hamilton serves on the boards of Calvin Hill Day Care, Boundless Literacy, Inc., and TruFund Financial Services, and volunteers for several non-profit organizations, including Barbershop Books. She is a commercial law attorney barred in New York and Connecticut, holds a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, and a B.A. in Political Science from Wellesley College.

As Vice President of People & Culture, Jackie Gibbons will serve on the URI Senior Team and lead the department’s human resources operations and services, including recruitment and selection, employee relations, compensation and benefits, performance management, policies and compliance. She will help to drive organizational goals and objectives, ensuring a culture of excellence and mission focus.

Gibbons joins URI from Catholic Charities of Brooklyn and Queens where she held numerous human resources roles for over 21 years, most recently as Senior Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer. An experienced HR professional, she has a demonstrated history strategically implementing efficient and effective human management procedures and operations for the advancement of nonprofit organizations. Gibbons holds an M.S. in Industrial and Labor Relations from Bernard M. Baruch College of the City University of New York and a B.A. in Sociology from Barnard College, Columbia University. Additionally, she is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the Human Resources Association of New York (HR/NY), and Personnel Association of Non-Profit Organizations.
