When I think about this year’s theme, “Leading the Change: Women Shaping a Sustainable Future,” I think about the women I see every day at Urban Resource Institute.
I think about the women who came before us and fought to open doors that were closed. I think about the women who lead our programs, shape policy, manage shelters, and sit beside survivors in their hardest moments. And I think about the women we serve, who choose courage and healing even when the odds are stacked against them.
A sustainable future is not just about the environment. It is about stability. It is about making sure a woman and her children have a safe place to live and a real path forward.
That is why our Economic Empowerment Program matters. Financial abuse traps survivors in silence and dependency. We work to break that cycle by helping women rebuild credit, access jobs, secure income, and regain control of their financial futures. When a woman controls her finances, she controls her next chapter.
This month, we honor the women leading change inside URI and across our city. We honor the survivors who are rebuilding their lives. And we ask you to stand with them.
If you believe women deserve not just shelter but opportunity, not just survival but stability, support URI.
Invest in women shaping a stronger, more sustainable future.
