Lydia Wong, Esq.
Lydia Fan Wong serves as General Counsel at Urban Resource Institute (URI), where she provides strategic legal leadership to support the organization’s mission of advancing safety, dignity, and stability for survivors of domestic violence and families experiencing homelessness.
As a member of URI’s senior leadership team, Lydia oversees legal strategy, governance, grants and contracts, employment matters, regulatory compliance, and organizational risk management. She plays a central role in strengthening URI’s legal and policy infrastructure during a period of significant growth, ensuring that operational excellence and mission alignment go hand in hand.
Lydia works closely with leaders across programs, housing, advocacy, finance, facilities, information technology, development, and marketing to ensure legal and contractual obligations are understood and embedded into daily practice. She also develops policies and procedures critical to URI’s long-term sustainability and provides regulatory and compliance guidance to staff at all levels.
Before joining URI, Lydia served as an associate at a law firm dedicated exclusively to New York nonprofits and mission-driven enterprises. She previously held in-house counsel roles at Nonprofit Finance Fund and The Rockefeller Foundation. She began her legal career at Davis Polk & Wardwell.
Lydia has also served as an Adjunct Professor of Legal Practice at Seton Hall Law School, reflecting her commitment to mentorship and professional development.
She earned her JD, cum laude, from Harvard Law School and her BA with honors from the University of California, Berkeley.
