Nicolaine (Nicole) Lazarre is General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer for Urban Resource Institute, an expanded role created in November 2020 to reflect the dynamic growth of URI. Reporting to the CEO, and serving as an integral member of the Executive Team, Nicole is the organization’s chief legal advisor, responsible for overseeing legal affairs, including corporate and real estate transactions, policy initiatives as well as advising on corporate governance, finance, risk management, legislative and regulatory issues, and compliance.
Prior to joining URI, Nicole was Senior Vice President and General Counsel for the National Urban League, a historic civil rights organization that provides direct social services. Nicole served as a corporate attorney for international firms Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP and Sidley Austin LLP. She received her BS degree in Political Science from the University of Houston and her JD from Georgetown University Law Center. As a keen proponent of social entrepreneurship, Nicole is an associate adjunct professor at Columbia University’s School of Professional Studies and contributes personal time to mentoring and guiding young professionals. She is the founder of the Women and Civil Rights Dinner, a convening of senior female executives in business, law and finance, and has provided pro bono representation on a variety of communications law and civil rights issues.
She is admitted to practice in New York. Member American Bar Association, Minority Corporate Counsel Association, Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics, and the National Bar Association.
