NEW YORK (August 30, 2021) – Urban Resource Institute (URI), the nation’s largest provider of domestic violence shelter services and a leading homeless shelter provider in New York City, announced Timi Lewis joined the organization as Vice President of Marketing and Communications. In this position, Lewis will serve on the organization’s Senior Team and will play a critical role in the strategy and execution of branding, internal and external communications, public relations, and digital media activities to engage key audiences, drive awareness and influence, and advance URI’s mission and impact.

Lewis is the founder and principal of Lewis Media Company, LLC, where she most recently served as a communications consultant developing and implementing communications strategies for small businesses and nonprofits in the education, healthcare, and arts sectors. Previously, she was the director of communications for The Governance Lab, a data research center based at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering, and Vice President of Marketing and Communications for Housing Partnership Network, an affordable housing business collaborative.
In addition to these professional roles, Lewis is a member of New York Women in Communications, an organization for female communications professionals. Previously, she served three terms on the Board of Directors as vice president of the organization’s programming, strategic partnership, and sponsorship committees.
Lewis holds a Master of Public Policy from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy Studies from Duke University.
