Billing Accountant

Billing Accountant will be responsible for the oversight and daily management process of preparing billing documentation for URI’s government contracts and grants. Will manage the status of accounts and balances and identify inconsistencies, prepare monthly billing reports for government contracts and grants, and assist in the monthly financial closing and year-end audit requirements. Additionally, the Billing Accountant will receive and sort incoming payments with attention to credibility, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior, provide daily data entry of billing information, monitor expenses, advances and advance recoupments from payments, perform account reconciliations and investigations, and assist Vice President of Finance with expense analysis, budget reporting and budget modifications.

Must have a Bachelors’ degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline, along with a minimum of 3-5 years’ of experience in accounting, business or billing analysis. Knowledge of accounting ledgers and familiarity with accounting systems software required, experience with NYC HHS Accelerator is a plus. We are also looking for someone with strong mathematical skills and the ability to calculate figures used routinely, and demonstrated experience with working independently and managing multiple projects within given deadlines – specifically, in projects requiring significant resources, cross-functional involvement in fast paced high-energy working environment. Established computer aptitude and must have proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; Knowledge of excel is required. Excellent interpersonal, written and communications skills with the ability to provide excellent customer, analytical, organizational and operational service with people of diverse educational, cultural and professional etc. backgrounds.
